I met Deborra Garrett just days after she moved to Bellingham over 30 years ago and we've been good friends ever since. Obviously, I'm going to vote for her for Whatcom County Superior Court judge. I wouldn't be much of a friend if I didn't.

But here's the deal. I believe you should vote for her, too. Here's why.

Not only does Deborra have a broad working knowledge of the law, but she is also very hard working, supremely intelligent, and an excellent and thoughtful listener. Furthermore, her broad experience working throughout our community provides her with great insight into the lives of people from all walks of life and backgrounds.

But perhaps her greatest attribute is her fairness. It won't matter who is in her courtroom. Everyone who enters - regardless of their income, gender, race, or ethnicity - will be treated with equal respect and dignity. Everyone who appears before her will feel that they have been heard and dealt with fairly, compassionately and professionally.

I don't know what more you can ask for from a judge.
