LUMMI RESERVATION - A 67-year-old man was killed by blows to the head at his home on Lake Terrell Road, the Whatcom County medical examiner announced after an autopsy Wednesday, Oct. 24.

The victim, Kenneth L. Joseph, had lived at the light-blue home at 4667 Lake Terrell Road for decades. No suspects have been arrested after he was found dead by a relative about 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators were reluctant to release details about the crime scene or any suspects. They declined to talk about a possible murder weapon or motive.

Dr. Gary Goldfogel ruled the death a homicide.

The FBI is working with Lummi Nation police and Whatcom County Sheriff's detectives to sift through evidence and determine exactly how Joseph was killed. The FBI takes a role in homicides that occur on Lummi Reservation.

Joseph was a member of the Lummi and Sauk-Suiattle tribes. Neighbors described him as a "respected elder."
