Willamette University senior Madisyn Leenstra (Sehome) was selected the Northwest Conference Volleyball Student Athlete of the Week on Oct. 14.
It marks the second time in three weeks that Leenstra has received the award.
Leenstra averaged 3.88 kills per set and posted a .500 hitting percentage with 31 kills and just two errors in 58 attacks during a pair of victories over Linfield College and Pacific that week.
Against Linfield, Leenstra had a match-high 22 kills and a .526 hitting percentage. She also had three aces, five digs and two block assists. Against Pacific, she had nine kills, five digs and one block assist.
Last week, Leenstra again led the Bearcats with 12 kills and a .344 hitting percentage in a 3-1 victory over Whitworth on Saturday, Oct. 20.
Leenstra leads the Bearcats this season with 245 kills, a 3.45 kills per game average and a .239 hitting percentage. She also has contributed 152 digs, 33 block assists and 25 aces.
DE BOER PRESEASON ALL-BIG SKY
Montana senior guard Kunzite De Boer (Lynden Christian) has was selected to the preseason second-team All-Big Sky team by College Sports Madness.
De Boer earned honorable mention all-conference recognition during the 2011-12 season, when she averaged 10.8 points and 3.5 rebounds and led the Lady Griz in steals (72) and finished second in assists (59).
Montana opens the season with an exhibition game against Carroll on Tuesday, Oct. 30, before traveling to Temple for its regular-season opener on Nov. 9.
