Make a Difference Day, a national day of volunteering, is Saturday, Oct. 27, and there are plenty of Whatcom County projects looking for helpers.
Whatcom Volunteer Center has a list of several area projects, from painting to yard work to delivering furniture. Go to whatcomvolunteer.org to find out more, or to sign up.
The center kicks off the work with an 8 a.m. breakfast for volunteers at Bellingham High School, 2020 Cornwall Ave.
Several local businesses and groups also have their own Make a Difference Day projects.
