Three lacrosse players chosen for Burnaby Mountain Selects teams

Three local lacrosse players were chosen to play on the 2012 fall rosters for the Burbany (B.C.) Mountain Selects Elite Touring Teams.

Andrew Hoemann of Bellingham (Sehome High School) was chosen to play on the boys' junior elite team (goalie). Austin Perkins of Bellingham (Kulshan Middle School) was picked for the boys' U13 elite team (defense). Treven Salminen of Lynden (Lynden High School) was chosen for the boys' senior elite team (midfield).

The Burnaby Mountain Selects are recognized as one of Canada's top field lacrosse development programs.

TWO YOUTH FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS WILL BE DECIDED THIS WEEKEND.

Lynden LTI and Lynden Yeh Orthodontics will compete for The Boys' and Girls' Club youth football championships junior division title on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Lynden Middle School.

The game will start at 10:15 a.m. Junior division players consist of third through fifth graders from 17 Whatcom County youth football programs.

In the senior division, Ferndale's Inco Construction will take on Lynden TK Select at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Lynden Middle School. Senior division players consist of mostly sixth graders from Whatcom County.

AAU BASKETBALL PLAYERS NEEDED

Boys' basketball players are needed for a new local seventh-grade AAU team.

Tryouts will be held the week of Nov. 5 and play in a Whatcom/Skagit county AAU league and a local AAU tournament.
