Lynden man suspected of driving drunk, too fast, in injury crash

FERNDALE - A 24-year-old Lynden man was arrested after he crashed into a tree just east of Ferndale early Saturday, Oct. 20.

Brandon R. Frost was driving a black Volkswagen Jetta east in the 1400 block of Paradise Road at 12:12 a.m. when it went off the road and hit a tree, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Keith Leary. Troopers believe Frost was drunk and going too fast, Leary said.

Two passengers in the car - Tyler L. Culp, 25, and Robert H. Kirkpatrick, 39 - were taken to St. Joseph hospital. One man suffered a broken arm and possibly a broken leg; the other had a chest injury. Leary wasn't sure who suffered which injury. Kirkpatrick wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

Frost was hurt but in good enough shape to be booked into jail a few hours later. He was arrested on suspicion of two counts of vehicular assault. The 2003 Jetta was totaled.
