WILDLIFE: Learn about creatures who prefer the dark

The Tacoma Nature Center is holding two Halloween- related special events later this week.

Creatures of the Night will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday. Children will learn about creatures of the night during a short twilight hike, activities, crafts and a special snack.

The program is recommended for ages 3-6 and their parents or grandparents.

Reservations are requested.

“Who Goes Bump in the Night?” will be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday. During this family event, participants will find out about nocturnal critters on a guided twilight or night hike, activities and crafts.

There also will be the chance to visit with nocturnal animals from Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium.

This program is recommended for ages 5 and older.

Reservations also are requested for this event.

The cost for each program is $2.50 per child, $2 per child member and adults are admitted free.

The center is at 1919 S. Tyler St., Tacoma.
