Squalicum diver Tori Franzen dove to a state-qualifying score of 344.55, placing first at the Northwest District dive meet Saturday, Oct. 20, at Fidalgo Pool in Anacortes.

The Storm's Samantha Jones took third with a score of 239.85, and Sehome's Emily Lucke placed sixth with a score of 189.10. Each diver completed an 11-dive program.

"This is exactly what we expected, and we're excited for the next couple weeks," Bellingham School District dive coach Taylor Sundstrom said in a phone interview.

Whatcom County divers perform next at the Class 2A Northwest District Championships, where state berths will be on the line. Districts began at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Fidalgo Pool in Anacortes.
