Lyle R. and Shirley (Tiplin) Smith will be celebrating their 70th Wedding Anniversary. They were married Oct. 25, 1942, in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Bellingham. They had 4 children: Lyle Jr., Gary (deceased), Shirley Rae Scheidegger (deceased) and Jeffery (JoAnne), 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 step great-grandchildren. Lyle was a 1st class cook in the Navy during WWII. He was later an officer for the Bellingham Police Dept for 25 years. He and Shirley owned Baker Creek Mobile Home Park. They retired in 1978. A dinner party is planned for their anniversary celebration.
