BELLINGHAM - The Bellingham Red Raiders earned their first win of the football season Friday, Oct. 19, with a 28-21 victory over winless Anacortes.

Bellingham (1-7, 1-5 NWC 2A/3A) was led by Marques Reynolds, who had 95 yards rushing on 17 attempts.

Anacortes (0-8, 0-6) fought back in the second half with two straight touchdowns to catch Bellingham.

"I think that it's great after an early-season injury to come out and really show them what I have in me," Reynolds said.

Bellingham quarterback Justin Pruett, who suffered a leg injury in last week's game at Ferndale, threw for 135-yards on 16 attempts with three touchdowns.

Kyle Redmond was Pruett's favorite target for the night, hauling in three catches for 55 yards and a touchdown.

"It's good for the boys," Bellingham coach Steve Wilson said. "The boys work hard; They're a good group of guys. It's good that we got one."

Anacortes was led by running backs Derek Chase and Nick Monroe. Chase rushed 29 times for 125 yards and a touchdown, and Monroe added 121 yards on 20 carries.

Anacortes also found the endzone through the air, with quarterback Andrew Medalia hooking up with Monroe and A.J. Yost for touchdowns.
