Published: October 19, 2012

The Mount Baker volleyball team lost to Anacortes 25-21, 25-10, 25-7 in a Northwest Conference match on Thursday, Oct. 18, in Mount Baker.

"We came out the best we have ever played in game one," Mount Baker coach Mary LeSage said in a phone interview. "We battled hard. After that we just lost our energy and things got slower and we weren't as energetic after that."

The Mountaineers were led by Abby Winterburn with seven kills and eight blocks.

"Abby and Emily Yost both played hard and Emma Lallas hit well in the first game," LeSage said.

Mount Baker is now 1-11, 1-9 NWC and will play at Bellingham on Monday, Oct. 22.
