The Mount Baker girls' soccer team suffered a 1-0 Northwest Conference loss at home to Anacortes on Thursday, Oct. 18.
The Mountaineers' regular goalkeeper Jamie Johnson is out for the season with a knee injury so freshman Emily Brandland has been playing goal for the last couple games. She had six saves on the day for Mount Baker.
"Emily is a freshman and never played goalie. She's doing really well," Mount Baker coach Brenda Ellis said in a phone interview. "The level of competition doesn't intimidate her."
The Mountaineers (4-9-2, 2-8-1) finish up the regular season with a home match at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, against Meridian.
