Becker, Mariners defeat Nooksack 3-1 in volleyball

Published: October 17, 2012

The Sehome volleyball team defeated Nooksack Valley 25-16, 25-16, 16-25, 25-16 in a Northwest Conference match on Tuesday, Oct. 16, in Bellingham.

"I thought we came out strong and executed well," Sehome coach Kristy White said in a phone interview. "We had good ball control. I think the third game we just lost focus and Nooksack placed the ball where we weren't. In the fourth game we came back strong and served really good."

The Mariners were led by Katie Becker with 12 kills, Taylor Lyall with 12 kills and six aces and Kendra Thomas with 18 digs.

"I thought Katie Becker did a good job putting the ball on the court and did well with the sets," White said. "She played the ball and ran the offense well."

Sehome is now 9-2, 8-1 NWC and will play at Meridian on Thursday, Oct. 18, while Nooksack Valley (5-6, 4-5 NWC) will host Bellingham.
