Nelson's goal leads Bellingham past Burlington-Edison

Larkyn Nelson scored in the 50th minute for the Bellingham girls' soccer team and it was enough for the Red Raiders in a 1-0 Northwest Conference victory at Burlington-Edison on Tuesday, Oct. 16.

The win put Bellingham at 8-5-1, 8-2-0 NWC while Burlington-Edison dropped to 12-3-0, 9-2-0 NWC.

"It was a pretty hard-fought game for us," Red Raiders coach Mark Wright said in a phone interview. "It was good for us to push (a goal) across."

Nelson's goal was assisted on a cross from Brooke Baker.

Hannah Jacobus made four saves in goal for the shutout for Bellingham.

The Red Raiders host Nooksack Valley on Thursday, Oct. 18.
