Burn bans on Lummi Island and across Whatcom County have been lifted after the weekend of heavy rain.
Those bans were lifted at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, after going into effect during the summer dry spell.
A permanent ban on open burning remains in Bellingham, Lynden, Ferndale, Blaine, Everson, Nooksack, Sumas, Birch Bay, Kendall, Cherry Point and the urban growth areas of those places.
If you live in an area where open burning is allowed and want to have a fire, call 360-676-6934 for information on obtaining a burn permit or stop by the Permit Center at the corner of Northwest and Smith roads.
