Published: October 15, 2012

BELLINGHAM - Fairhaven Pizza & Prawns owners Naomi Sundberg and Tom Trailbush have decided to host an Alaska Day Celebration from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the restaurant at 1307 11th St.

The celebration will include having Alaskan Brewing Company on hand to provide samples, prize giveaways as well as an Alaska costume contest. The restaurant also will be serving up Alaska dishes, including Alaska spot prawns. Sundberg and Trailbush are Alaska transplants, and Trailbush annually heads up to Alaska to fish for the prawns.

Alaska Day is a state holiday that marks the anniversary of the official transfer of the Alaska territory from Russia to the U.S. in 1867.
