Fifty years ago, on Oct. 12, 1962, a Columbus Day windstorm battered the Northwest and much of the West Coast. Called the state's worst weather disaster of the 20th century, the storm killed more than 50 people, including nine in Washington.

Whatcom County shared in the destruction and disruption. If you or a family member lived through the storm in the county, The Bellingham Herald invites you to submit your recollections, to run in the paper and online.
