The Meridian girls' soccer team lost 5-2 at Burlington-Edison in a Northwest Conference match on Thursday, Oct. 11.
"We played a good first half and a good end to the second half," Meridian coach Andrea Ames said in a phone interview. "Four of their goals came in the first 15 minutes of the second half, which is strange because we are usually a strong second half team."
Meridian's Janessa Murphy scored both goals for the Trojans.
"I was proud of how they came back," Ames said. "When you are down five nothing it's easy to give up, but they kept battling. They scored twice, which I was proud of because Burlington doesn't give up a lot of goals. A lot of teams didn't score any against them. Giving up five isn't ideal but pulling two back really showed a lot about their character."
Meridian is now 7-3-3, 4-3-2 NWC and will play at Lynden Christian on Tuesday, Oct. 16.
