A 40-year-old Bellingham man is facing six charges of sex crimes against a child in Canada after the victim came forward a decade after the alleged abuse.
Todd Ronald Hildebrand is charged with two counts each of sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching involving a then 13-year-old. The incidents allegedly happened 10 years ago in Abbotsford and were reported in August 2012, according to Constable Ian MacDonald of Abbotsford Police.
Investigators don't know if there are other victims, but they are asking any to come forward. Hildebrand is a Canadian citizen but lives in Bellingham.
In Canada, Hildebrand is under court orders not to be in any public parks, school grounds, playgrounds, recreation centers or anywhere similar likely to draw children. It's unlikely those conditions could be enforced in the U.S., MacDonald said, noting it would be an argument for the court.
Anyone with information about any other possible victims or violations of Hildebrand's court orders should call Abbotsford Police at 604-859-5225.
