Lynden wins on final event over Anacortes in girls' swimming

Published: October 10, 2012

The Lynden girls' swim team won the final event to defeat Anacortes 86-84 in a Northwest Conference match on Tuesday, Oct. 9, in Lynden.

"It was a really exciting meet with a lot of close races," Lynden Coach Linda Bode said in a phone interview. "We were up by only two points going in to that final race. It was really crazy and fun for the girls on both sides. The difference was our depth."

Lynden's Hannah Hollander, Annie Uribe, Shelby Umbaugh and Sarah Hollander won the final event, the 400 freestyle relay, with a time of 4 minutes, 20.88 seconds.

"What really impressed me today was the girls that finished second and third for us," Bode said. "My younger girls are really pulling through for me."
