Kim Hazlett scored twice as the Squalicum girls' soccer team won 4-1 at Blaine in a Northwest Conference match on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
Kim Dorr scored first for Squalicum in the 24th minute and Leigha Schjelderup added another in the 33rd.
Blaine's Alicia Allison scored right after halftime on a pass from Ashley Quesada.
"I was happy with how the team responded. Squalicum is an active team that moves the ball really well and can confuse you," Blaine coach Dan Steelquist said in a phone interview. "We did a good job staying solid on defense and we had opportunities to score."
It was the first time Squalicum has been scored on in its last six games and only the second conference goal it has allowed all season, Steelquist said.
"I'm excited about what I am seeing. The team gets better every game," Steelquist said.
Hazlett scored her first goal in the 65th and the second in the 75th minute.
