Lynden boys' tennis ends regular season with a win

The Lynden boys' tennis team rolled to a 6-1 Northwest Conference victory Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Sedro-Woolley to finish up the regular season.

At No. 1 singles, Grant Wolffis earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Sedro-Woolley's Hector Grant and the Lions also had wins from Brian Groves and Drake Likkel.

In doubles, the No. 1 Lions team of Luke Reardon and Toby Dalla Santa earned a 6-3, 6-4 win over Sedro's Mike Moser and Charlie Rutherford. Lynden also had wins from the teams of Jay Roper/Mikal Olson and Trevor Dalla Santa/Brock Benner.

"I think we played well today," Lynden coach Trey Ballard said in a phone interview of the Lions who improved to 7-6 overall and 7-6 in the NWC. "I was proud of them and it was a great way to finish up the season."

The Class 2A Northwest District Tournament starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Sehome High School.
