The Nooksack Valley volleyball team defeated host Meridian 25-16, 25-20, 25-17 in a Northwest Conference match on Monday, Oct. 8.

The win improved the Pioneers to 5-3, 4-2 NWC while the Trojans dropped to 2-6, 1-5 NWC.

"We had missed opportunities, especially in the second game," Meridian coach Shannon Claeys said in a phone interview.

Meridian was led by Sydney Wasilewski who had nine kills, three aces and 10 digs. Nicole Hofbauer had 16 assists and two aces for the Trojans.
