The Squalicum boys' tennis team edged Ferndale 4-3 in a Northwest Conference match on Monday, Oct. 8.
"As a team I was pleased even though we lost," Ferndale coach Rudy Vendiola said in a phone interview. "We fell just a little short. A lot of matches could have went either way."
Ferndale took three of the four singles matches - two of them in three sets - as Trevor Koehn defeated Avery Wolfe 7-5, 6-7 (6), 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Taylor Walton beat Tavo O'Connell 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. Nate Fallis also won at singles for the Golden Eagles.
Squalicum had its singles win by Neal Crawford and swept the doubles as the teams of Zach Hart/Aaron Morris, Drew Segren/Kevin Smiley and Conner Nickelson/Tyler Hoback all won.
The Storm improved to 6-7, 6-7 NWC while the Golden Eagles dropped to 0-13, 0-13 NWC.
