I can't pass up the opportunity to comment on a writer's observation that candidate yard sign displays tell us all we need to know about political parties. That's a tidy little theory but it doesn't hold up to the light of day.
Let's start with this: Sept. 27 USA Today front page article blasted the following headline, "Red states' income growing faster than blue states'." The block-buster article concedes that, "Income is growing much faster in Republican-leaning 'red states' than in Democratic-tilting 'blue states'..."
Frankly, this isn't news to many of us who instinctively appreciate that lower taxes and business-friendly regulation promotes economic growth. Duh!
Regrettably, Washington State citizens do not have first-hand knowledge of the propitious phenomena as described in the USA Today article because we live in a blue state! Olympia has been under total Democratic dominance for 30 years. The "haphazard" liberal course of action has not been kind to us.
We're fed up with "milling around" and now it's time for voters to turn Washington State red, starting at the top with a Governor McKenna. It's our turn to cash in a portion of the prosperous pie.
