BELLINGHAM - Two election forums this week will feature candidates and issues on the Nov. 6 ballot.
Democrat Rick Larsen and Republican Dan Matthews, who are facing off for a U.S. House seat, and the two Whatcom County Public Utility District commissioner candidates, Brad Stone and Paul Kenner, are scheduled to be at a Thursday, Oct. 11, event. People should be seated prior to the 7 p.m. start time at Bellingham Municipal Court, 2014 C St.
The Whatcom County Superior Court judicial race and two Bellingham ballot issues will be discussed at a 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, forum at Bellingham City Council Chambers in City Hall, 210 Lottie St.
Judicial candidates Dave Grant and Deborra Garrett are expected to attend, as are people to discuss the Bellingham property-tax levy for low-income housing and the Port of Bellingham proposal to expand its board to five commissioners.
Audience questions are welcome at the events. They are sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Bellingham/Whatcom County and the city of Bellingham. They will be aired live and rebroadcast on BTV 10 (Comcast channel 10 in the Bellingham area) and online at cob.org.
