LYNDEN - Lynden showed why its offense was too much for Bellingham to handle.

Lynden ran all over Bellingham's for the tune of 288 total yards Friday, Oct. 6, in a 43-13 Northwest Conference Class 2A/3A win over the Red Raiders.

Leading the way was Lynden's senior tailback Luke Christianson. Christianson ran for 113 yards on 11 carries with two touchdowns.

"Lining behind those guys - you can't ask for anything better," Christianson said. "Every time you take the ball, you can left, you can go up the middle, you can go right - you can go anywhere you want because holes just blow up."

Lynden (5-1) took control of this game early, forcing a quick three-and-out and promptly marching down 61 yards in eight plays for a 2-yard Christianson touchdown.

After another Bellingham three-and-out, Christianson returned a punt 44 yards to give Lynden a 15-0 lead with six minutes left in the first.

Lynden wouldn't score again until the second quarter, when Lynden scored three touchdowns in two minutes and 38 seconds.

Two of those touchdowns were to senior wide receiver Zack Vis. It was Vis' first game back after breaking his collarbone during a practice in August.

"He adds a whole another dimension to our team," Lynden coach Curt Kramme said. "We missed him greatly, and the guys playing in his spot have filled in nicely, but he's another-level guy."

Lynden rested its starters after the first half, giving Bellingham's starting offense a chance to move the ball.

Bellingham's starting offense opened the second half on a 15-play, eight minute drive that resulted in a turnover on downs. The Red Raiders (0-6) played more physically in the second half, forcing two turnovers on defense.

"We know Lynden is a really good football team," Bellingham coach Steve Wilson said. "We are just trying to get better, and I think we got better this week."

Bellingham tailback Marques Reynolds ran very physical in the second half, breaking tackles en route to 103 yards rushing.

Lynden plays at Burlington-Edison Friday, Oct. 12, while Bellingham travels to face Ferndale.
