WCC women's soccer earns big win on the road

The Whatcom Community College women's soccer team, which leads the NWAACC North Division, earned a 2-0 victory over South Division leader Clackamas on Friday, Oct. 5, at Clackamas.

Lauren Frey scored the first goal six minutes in on an assist by Sarah Taubenheim and Brooke Steinberg added a goal off a 25-yard free kick in the 42nd minute.

"It's just a huge confidence booster for the girls because we beat one of the other No. 1 teams," WCC coach Claire Morgan said in a phone interview.

Allie Holterman had seven saves in goal for the Orcas, who improve to 8-1-1 overall and 6-1-1 in league.
