WWU women's golf tied for third at invite

Western Washington University's Kara Zitzman is second in medalist play and the Vikings are tied for third in the team standings after the opening round Friday, Oct. 5, at the Saint Martin's University Women's Golf Invitational Tournament in Olympia.

The Vikings shot 336 and are tied with Hawaii-Hilo for third in the 10-team field.

Zitzman shot a 6-over par 79 and trails Victoria's Megan Woodland by just two shots. Tied for third are Sunny Powers of Concordia and Jessica Pickwick of Tarleton State, who both shot 80.

WWU's Kristen Hansen shot 84 and is tied for 13th. Claire Rachor is 19th (86), Anna Bourland tied for 20th (87) and Katya Case 29th (90).
