Bellingham council to consider allowing night paving on Woburn

Published: October 6, 2012

BELLINGHAM - The City Council will decide Monday, Oct. 8, whether to make an exception to the noise ordinance and allow night paving on Woburn Street, between Lakeway Drive and Alabama Street.

The Public Works Department is recommending allowing paving at night on this stretch of Woburn because working during the day would interfere with a large volume of traffic.

Pending council approval, the paving project will begin the week of Oct. 15 and take four or five nights to complete.

The noise ordinance does not permit construction noise in residential areas between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

The council will hear about the request in a Public Works Committee meeting at 1:55 p.m. Monday in City Hall, 210 Lottie St. The vote on night paving will take place at the full council's 7 p.m. meeting, also in City Hall.
