I have known Deborra Garrett since moving here in 1984. We represented opposing parties on many occasions over the years. Deborra is thorough, persuasive, capable and rational in her representation. I urge you to vote for her for Superior Court Judge.
Deborra has great integrity, able to step back from her advocacy for a client in the morning against me, and be a cordial and contributing parent as the mother of a scout in our sons' scout troop in the evening.
Deborra's legal career has included representation of people and businesses in all areas of law the Superior Court covers --employment, family law, probate, criminal law, business and real estate. She has represented at least one local non-profit board that I've served on, as labor counsel in collective bargaining. What a fine job she does.
Like all of us, Deborra has experienced personal loss and the grief that follows. Having lost my dad at an early age as did Deborra's children, I so admire Deborra's hard work, love and kindness as a parent. Some things have become easier for women as single parents over the years, but the fact remains, it is not easy to balance the demands of parenting with the demands of the work. She's done a great job.
Please join me in electing the first woman to the Whatcom County Superior Court.
