The Lynden Christian volleyball team defeated Ferndale 25-18, 25-22, 14-25, 25-22 in a Northwest Conference match on Thursday, Oct. 4, in Ferndale.
"It was a big win for us over a 3A school. There was a big crowd and it was an exciting back-and-forth game," Lynden Christian coach Kim Grycel said in a phone interview. "Ferndale was very impressive and they played really well tonight so it was a big win for us."
The Lyncs were led by Cassie Mulder with 11 kills, three aces and 10 digs, Kayla Tiemersma with five kills and six blocks and Makayla Lancaster with 12 digs.
"We lost two last week so we were hungry for a win," Grycel said. "Ferndale made it tough and we were happy to get the win on their court."
Lynden Christian is now 3-4, 3-3 NWC and will host Lynden on Tuesday, Oct. 9, while Ferndale (4-5, 3-4 NWC) will travel to Meridian.
