The Mount Baker girls' soccer team lost 5-0 to Burlington-Edison in a Northwest Conference match on Thursday, Oct. 4, in Burlington.
"We played a really good first half and we went out in the second and wanted to stay strong," Mount Baker coach Brenda Ellis said in a phone interview. "They scored really fast and we lost focus. The second goal took the wind out of our sails. Burlington played well and had a lot of good runs."
Burlington scored the first four goals in a span of eight minutes early in the second half.
Mount Baker keeper Emily Brandland made 13 saves in the effort.
"She was amazing," Ellis said. "She is filling in for Jamie. I think this was her third varsity game ever. She was confident and calm the whole game."
Mount Baker is now 3-6-2, 1-4-1 NWC and will host Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
