The Lynden girls' swim team earned its first win of the year over Sedro-Woolley 112-57 in a Northwest Conference meet on Thursday, Oct. 4.
"We needed a win. It's been a while," Lynden coach Linda Bode said in a phone interview. "I think our depth pulled us through. Sedro isn't that big of a team so we were able to capitalize with our depth."
Lynden was led by its 200 freestyle relay team of Hannah Hollander, Annie Uribe, Sarah Hollander and Shelby Umbaugh, who each also won other events.
"It was their first time together and they did an excellent job," Bode said.
Hannah Hollander won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 27.07 seconds and the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:22.08.
Sarah Hollander won the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:12.41 and the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:09.74.
Uribe was also part of the 400 freestyle relay that had a time of 4:54.74
Umbaugh won the 50 freestyle with a time of 28.2 and the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:05.52
Lynden is now 1-4, 1-3 NWC and will host Anacortes on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
