Horse Expo debuts in Lynden this weekend

LYNDEN - An Extreme Cowboy Race highlights the first Northwest Washington Horse Expo, to be held Friday through Sunday, Oct. 5-7 at the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds.

The race, a timed and judged event that challenges horses and riders to maneuver through a series of obstacles, will be presented daily. Also, instructors will lead clinics on riding, training and caring for horses, with a different breed highlighted each day.

An "All the Beautiful Horses" Breed Parade will be held 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets purchased at least one day in advance cost $10 for adults and $8 for youths (age 8 to 15) and seniors (62 and older). Tickets at the gate are $12 for adults and $10 for youths and seniors. Three-day passes are $30 for adults and $24 for youths and seniors.

The expo will be open 11 a.m. 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. For details about schedules and tickets, call 360-354-4111 or visit nwwafair.com.
