The Squalicum boys' tennis team won at home against Anacortes 4-3 in a Northwest Conference match on Wednesday, Oct. 3.
"I was pleased with our performance," Squalicum coach Joe O'Brien said. "I was very impressed with Neal Crawford with his first singles time in the varsity lineup. He played really well."
Crawford won the fourth singles match 6-3, 6-1 over Ben Bellusci. It was the only singles match Squalicum won.
"The last doubles team was a close match," O'Brien said. "Everything was hinging on that. We were pleased that we prevailed. We had a lot of match points and the other team just kept coming back."
Squalicum's Carter Nickelson and Tyler Hoback defeated Kevin Xue and Jared Douglas in the third doubles match 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 to get the win for Squalicum.
