FERNDALE - The city's financial statements were in good order in 2011, according to the most recent state audit. The state found no deficiencies in the city's accounting that might allow for improper use of public funds, the state Auditor's Office reported Sept. 24.
The audit reviewed the city's ability to catch financial misstatements, and its compliance with government accounting standards and with requirements imposed by federal funding programs.
Ferndale's fund for general operating expenses was $7.5 million in 2011, according to the audit. The city paid $2.18 million in long-term debt last year.
