The Meridian volleyball team defeated Blaine 22-25, 25-22, 12-25, 25-23, 15-4 in a Northwest Conference match Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Blaine.
"It was a tough game that went back and forth," Meridian coach Shannon Claeys said in a phone interview. "We had a lot of errors. Luckily in the fifth game we played well. Sydney Wasilewski had a great fifth game. We played our hearts out and came away with a win."
Wasilewski had 21 kills and 24 digs, with eight of her kills coming in the fifth game.
The Trojans were also led by Rachel Hofbauer with 31 digs, Allecia Galindo with seven kills and 14 digs and Nicole Hofbauer with 29 assists.
Meridian is now 2-4, 1-3 NWC and will host Anacortes on Thursday, Oct. 4, while Blaine (0-7, 0-6 NWC) will travel to Sehome.
