Diversified scoring leads Squalicum to big win at Sedro-Woolley

Published: October 3, 2012

The Squalicum girls' soccer team had seven players score in an 8-0 Northwest Conference victory at Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

"All season long, we've kind of had that theme where we weren't counting on one person to be our leading attacker," Squalicum coach David Kish said in a phone interview. "We have a very balanced attack, and I thought the entire team played well tonight."

Junior Leigha Schjelderup scored two goals for the Storm (7-1-1, 5-1 NWC), while Lauren Gibb, Sarah Byron, Kim Hazlett, Zoe Peterson, Gracie Slater and Summer Allen all logged one. Wallace registered three assists, and Slater had two, while Hazlett and Byron were each credited with one.

Shelby Spooner and Lauren Eckert combined to record Squalicum's seventh shutout of the season and its fourth straight.

The Storm next hosts Nooksack Valley on Thursday, Oct. 4, at Civic Stadium.
