The Blaine and Meridian girls' soccer teams played to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Blaine.
"It was a great game for us. Especially the first half," Blaine coach Dan Steelquist said in a phone interview. "We played as solid a game as we have all season."
Ashley Quesada scored for Blaine in the 38th minute.
"Meridian is a really good team and have some high powered scorers that are creative," Steelquist said. "The midfield play was good for us, not giving them the time they wanted."
Emily Schwisow tied it up for Meridian in the 42nd minute.
"I am really proud of how we played," Steelquist said. "Nicole Statham and Olivia Olason were everywhere, helping everyone in the midfield. We got a really important point in the game."
Meridian is now 6-2-2, 3-2-1 NWC and will host Anacortes on Thursday, Oct. 4, while Blaine (2-5-3, 1-3-3 NWC) travels to Sehome.
