Whatcom Symphony Orchestra kicks off its 2012-2013 season with a salute to Hollywood at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Mount Baker Theatre, 104 N. Commercial St.
The program features songs from 100 years of movie music, including music made famous by Charlie Chaplin and the "Harry Potter" movies, and a tribute to John Williams, with music from "E.T." "Superman," "Schindler's List" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark," arranged and conducted by Bellingham's Ken Harrison.
Maestro Roupen Shakarian, who has agreed to step in while the orchestra searches for a new music director, will also conduct music from "The Lone Ranger," "Apocalypse Now," "Fantasia" and "2001: A Space Odyssey."
