Squalicum traveled to Sedro-Woolley and came away with a 5-2 Northwest Conference boys' tennis win on Monday, Oct. 1.
The win improved the Storm to 4-7, 4-7 NWC while the Cubs dropped to 2-9, 2-9 NWC.
Squalicum had singles wins from Drew Segren at No. 3 and Kevin Smiley at No. 4. It was the first time both played singles this year.
"For their first singles they did quite well," Squalicum coach Joe O'Brien said in a phone interview.
The Storm swept the doubles as the teams of Zach Hart/Aaron Morris, Avery Wolfe/Tavo O'Connell and Tyler Hoback/Carter Nickelson all won. Hoback and Nickelson won their match 7-5, 7-6 (1).
"They had it close for a long time and then they dominated in the tiebreaker," O'Brien said.
