WWU's Erickson named GNAC offensive player of the week in volleyball

Western Washington University middle blocker Kayla Erickson has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 23-29.

Erickson, a sophomore, had 24 kills in two victories, both sweeps, including the match winner as the Vikings handed Western Oregon its first conference loss.

Erickson, who hit for a .388 percentage, also had five blocks. She had 11 kills and a team-high three blocks against the Wolves.

Erickson ranks second among WWU leaders with 200 points this season, having 172 kills and a .387 attack percentage, and a team-best 49 blocks.

The Vikings are 12-2 overall and tied for the GNAC lead at 5-1.
