Whatcom People: County residents graduate from WSU and from basic military training

These Whatcom County students were among the summer semester graduates at Washington State University:

Bellingham: Melissa Bird, Bachelor of Science in nursing, summa cum laude; Ann Hoag, Bachelor of Arts in hospitality business management, cum laude; and Michelle Johnson, Bachelor of Arts in human development, cum laude.

Everson: Randy Heutink, Bachelor of Science in general studies-biological science and Bachelor of Science in psychology.

Lynden: Alisa Boschma, Bachelor of Arts in communication; Andrei Lintz, Bachelor of Arts in sport management, magna cum laude; Alicia Tremaine, Bachelor of Science in nutrition and exercise physiology, magna cum laude; and Landon Vande Hoef, Bachelor of Science in kinesiology.

• U.S. Air Force Airman James Calhoun graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Calhoun is the son of Mike Calhoun of Maple Falls and Sherry Patrick of Bellingham. He is a 2010 graduate of Mount Baker Senior High School.

• U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Josiah May graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The son of Gary and Georgia May of Maple Falls, he is a 2005 graduate of Sehome High School and earned an associate degree in 2005 from Bellingham Technical College.

• U.S. Air Force Airman Evan Lee graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The son of John and Shirley Lee of Lynden, he is a 2010 graduate of Meridian High School.
