Nooksack Valley outside hitter McKenzie Impero recorded 17 kills, eight digs and four aces to lead the Pioneers to a 25-19, 26-24, 25-16 win against non-conference opponent Friday Harbor on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Friday Harbor.
"All of our hitters were really balanced, which was great," Nooksack Valley coach Jenny Simmons said in a phone interview. "All our hitters had a positive hitting percentage. We were able to come over here and take care of business, which is not always easy to do."
Taryn Tenkley and Lindsay Hayes combined for 18 kills to go with Impero's 17.
"Lindsay Hayes, in the middle, really established an attack, which opened things up for McKenzie," Simmons said.
The Pioneers (3-2, 2-1 NWC) face Ferndale next at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Everson.
