Lions, Kraght too much for Sehome

Published: September 29, 2012

BELLINGHAM - Lynden quarterback Josh Kraght was a part of five touchdowns as the Lions football team shut out Sehome 41-0 in a Northwest Conference game on Friday, Sept. 28, at Civic Stadium.

Kraght, who had 97 yards rushing and went 12 for 23 with 170 yards, had three passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns.

The game didn't start off how the Lions would have liked, though, as Kraght fumbled the opening kickoff, giving the Mariners a chance to start off the scoring.

"In the first half we were a little flat," Lynden running back Luke Christianson said. "I was happy with the second though. It was good for us to be able to overcome adversity. They were beating up on us all night."

Sehome was unable to capitalize on the early turnover when its field goal was blocked.

The Lions scored with 3 minutes left on the clock in the first quarter on a 4-yard reception by Christianson from Kraght.

Sehome turned the ball over again on a fumble after getting to the 9-yard line on the next drive.

"Sehome moved the ball convincingly," Lynden coach Curt Kramme said. "Unfortunately, they had miscues. They played hard."

Sehome had a total of four lost fumbles.

"We played hard but you can't win when you put the ball on the ground," Sehome coach Bob Norvell said. "I think our kids know though that they smacked Lynden in the mouth. If they are not proud of how they played tonight, they should be."

Sehome was led by Austin Rapp, who had 106 yards rushing and threw for 24 yards.

Christianson caught two receiving touchdowns and had 66 yards receiveing, while also rushing for 115 yards.

Lynden's Alex Otano-Guenther kicked two field goals for the Lions.

The Lions improved to 4-1, 3-0 NWC and will host Bellingham on Friday, Oct. 5, while Sehome (1-4, 1-2 NWC) travels to Burlington-Edison.
