Visitors can go to state parks for free Saturday, Sept. 29, in recognition of National Public Lands Day. The Discover Pass is not required of visitors exploring state parks on "free days."
The free days are in keeping with legislation that created the Discover Pass, a $30 annual or $10 one-day permit required on state-managed recreation lands managed by Washington State Parks, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and the state Department of Natural Resources.
The final 2012 free days are scheduled for Nov. 10-12, during the Veterans Day holiday weekend.
