Whatcom County driver Mike Welch has been named to the International Monster Truck Hall of Fame and will be one of the featured drivers at a show this weekend in Lynden.

Welch, 49, has been driving monster trucks since he was a teenager, behind the wheel of notable trucks like Monster Mash and Super Pete.

He will attempt the first-ever reverse back flip in the latest version of Monster Mash at a show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds grandstand.

Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the gate. Children 3 and younger get in free. Tickets are on sale at George's Chevron and the Lynden, Ferndale, Bellingham, and Blaine NAPA stores.

Monster truck drivers also will be available for autographs at George's Chevron, at the corner of Smith Road and Guide Meridian, from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday.
