The Lynden and Nooksack Valley girls' soccer teams played to a 1-1 Northwest Conference draw on Thursday, Sept. 27, in Lynden.
Lexi Smiley scored the first goal in the 31st minute for Lynden.
"It wasn't our most solid game," Lynden coach Kirstin Salminen said in a phone interview. "We didn't pick up the intensity until after we got scored on."
Payton Linville scored the goal for the Pioneers in the 70th minute.
"I thought Madison Wandel and Holly McKinley kept us solid in the back," Salminen said. "They really limited the chances and gave us opportunities to get ahead, but we didn't take advantage of them."
Lynden is now 2-6-2, 0-4-2 NWC and will play at Mount Baker on Tuesday, Oct. 2, while Nooksack Valley (0-5-3, 0-2-3 NWC) travels to Friday Harbor on Saturday, Sept. 29.
