BELLINGHAM - A vigil and labyrinth walk Monday, Oct. 1, will be held to raise awareness of domestic violence. The free events are at Bellingham Public Library, 210 Central Ave., according to a news release from the Bellingham-Whatcom County Commission Against Domestic Violence.
The Oct. 1 events begin Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The vigil will run 6 to 7 p.m. at the library lawn and feature keynote speaker Riannon Bardsley, executive director of Northwest Youth Services. Also, the ninth annual Outstanding Achievement Award for a person or group working to stop domestic violence will be presented.
The labyrinth walk will occur 4:30 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 7:30 p.m. in the library's downstairs community room.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month will close with an interfaith prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Assumption Church, 2116 Cornwall Ave.
